Best RAM Kits For Ryzen 7 7800X3D Reviews
Number 3. Patriot Viper Venom 16GB – Best Budget RAM Kit For Ryzen 7 7800X3D
DDR5 RAM is seeing incredible adoption and is just as affordable now as DDR4. If you are struggling to choose a RAM kit due to budget constraints or simply want a good and affordable option, the Patriot Viper Venom 16 GB DDR5 kit might just be the right choice. This kit runs at 5200 MT/s with a CAS latency of 36 ns and is perfect for anyone building a DDR5 PC with the Ryzen 7 7800x3d on tight budget.
For the price of a base kit of DDR5, Patriot is essentially offering a free upgrade. It is perhaps the most affordable DDR5 RAM kit that isn’t running at stock DDR5 speeds and has great timings as well.
It is also important to note that CPUs with large caches like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D are not sensitive to RAM speeds and scale poorly with faster kits; they do however scale well with RAM kits that have lower latency. Since this kit is both faster and has tighter timings than a stock DDR5 kit, it is the perfect starter RAM kit for 3D V-Cache CPUs like the 7800X3D as it will barely be affected by the lack of a superfast RAM kit.
Compared to other budget DDR5 RAM kits, it stands out due to having much lower latency than standard DDR5 kits. Those kits may have fast transfer rates, but they come at the cost of terrible RAM timings. For example, the TEAMGROUP Elite and the Crucial Classic 16 GB kits are slightly cheaper than the Patriot Viper Venom 16 GB kit. The issue is that although the TEAMGROUP Elite runs at the same speed as the Patriot kit at 5200 MT/s, the CAS latency is 42 ns compared to 36 ns on the Patriot.
The Crucial Classic is a bit faster at 5600 MT/s but has a CAS latency of 46 ns. Since CPUs are sensitive to RAM timings, the 36 ns latency will always result in a snappier PC, especially since it has tighter timings than a base DDR5 kit.
It is also important to note that CPUs with large caches like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D are not sensitive to RAM speeds and scale poorly to faster kits. They do however scale well to RAM kits with lower latencies. For example a 6000 MT/s kit at CL30 will be faster than a 7600 MT/s kit at CL36.
All in all, for just around $50, the Patriot Viper Venom 16 GB DDR5 kit offers the best of both worlds – faster speeds at a lower latency for the price of a base kit.
Number 2. CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB 64GB – Best Premium RAM Kit For Ryzen 7 7800X3D
For a top-end system, it is easy to get carried away with the budget and opt for an ultra-fast RAM kit. The best choice is the simplest choice which is to go with the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64 GB kit.
Thanks to the 6000 MT/s clock speed with a CAS latency of 30 ns, it is pretty much the ideal RAM kit for basically anyone. The Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB doesn’t just have low latency, it has some of the lowest sub-timings on any DDR5 RAM kit with a memory schedule of 30-36-36-76.
CPUs like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D appreciate lower latency and memory timings over high clock speeds
64 GB is plenty for games, video editing, AI, and other memory intensive tasks. If you need more memory, then my recommendation is to get 2 of these kits for a total of 128 GB RAM instead of a 2 by 64 GB kit.
Surprisingly, Corsair is the only one with 2 by 32 GB kits with such tight timings. It’s either the Corsair Vengeance, Corsair Dominator Titanium, or the Corsair Dominator Platinum. Since they are not different in terms of performance or capacity, my pick is the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB because it looks good and doesn’t cost too much. The Dominator Titanium is the exact same RAM kit as the Corsair Dominator Platinum but with a different RGB strip and a higher price tag.
One more thing that I like about these RAM sticks is the RGB. Although I am not an RGB lover, these kits have grown on me. They have a unique square pattern on the top which lights up in sequence and even creates some light patterns.
When there are 4 sticks installed instead of 2, they make up a really cool looking block of RGB that elevates the design quite a bit. In fact, I like these more than the more expensive Corsair Dominator Titanium sticks because they really overdo their RGB lighting.
In conclusion, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB might just be the best kit of high end RAM for anyone looking to build a premium PC for the next decade. For around $250, it doesn’t really get much better than this even if you have a lot more money to spare on the memory.
Number 1. G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB – Our Top Choice
When it comes to finding a RAM kit that offers the absolute best bang for your buck for a cpu like the Ryzen 7 7800x3d in terms of speed, latency, capacity, and features, the G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB is one of the top choices.
For anyone building a PC with DDR5 RAM, this kit is really hard to beat as it runs at 6000 MT/s at CL30 without costing an arm and a leg. Even in terms of general performance, CPUs aren’t seeing a ton of improvement past 6000 MT/s especially given the fact that RAM kits with faster speeds are much more expensive and have looser timings.
This has been the case for quite a while and even the absolute fastest CPUs like the 14900K and 7800X3D see minimal gains from faster sticks. In terms of latency, CL30 is the sweet spot for CPUs like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D since it relies more on latency rather than transfer speed.
The Trident Z5 Neo RGB, as the name implies, comes with controllable RGB for those interested. It simply adds a bit of a flare and nothing more; aesthetically, it is quite basic and not quite to my taste. If you don’t like the RGB either, it can be turned off or set to a solid color. If you don’t want to deal with the RGB at all, simply get the non-RGB version of this exact kit.
There are plenty of alternative kits from Silicon Power, Corsair, and TEAMGROUP but there are a few reasons why I prefer G.SKILL. The main factor is that G.SKILL is a brand by Crucial who manufactures their own DRAM and knows the ins and outs of making reliable memory. Secondly, this particular kit, the Trident Z5 Neo is one of the most well-established and thoroughly tested RAM kits on the market. I’m not saying that the others are bad in comparison, it’s just that this kit in particular is extremely popular and well-tested given that it was one of the first 6000 MT/s kits at CL30 with unwavering reliability.
In conclusion, for just around $100, the Trident Z5 Neo is the best kit for a cpu like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D because it offers the best performance at a great price.
hope this guide helps you choose the perfect RAM kit for your Ryzen 7 7800X3D build.
