Graphics cards are becoming obscenely large even though they don’t need a lot of cooling. The Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti Super Eagle OC proves that you don’t need to overbuild a card to get great temperatures without creating noise or worrying about thermal throttling.
It is a compact 2-slot and 261 mm long card that fits easily in any PC case, so it will go in almost any mini ITX case without suffocating for more breathing room.
Taking a look at the build quality, Gigabyte has done a terrific job. The back plate is made of metal that feels strong and sturdy; you can be sure that the card is not going to get damaged from the back at all. The PCB itself is quite short as well and only covers about half of the card’s length.
This leaves quite a bit of room that Gigabyte used in a really interesting manner. The backplate has a large cutout to let the air completely pass through without any blocking which results in lower temperatures without needing a much thicker heatsink. This is how Gigabyte was able to achieve sub-60 degree temperatures without the fans moving too hard. If you are interested in squeezing out more performance, you can manually overclock the GPU, or use the dual BIOS switch to toggle between the OC or Silent profiles.
There isn’t a whole lot of RGB on this card if you were hoping for a light show. The only parts of the card with lights are the Gigabyte logo on the side with a small strip at the edge of the fan shroud.
Performance-wise you can expect to play pretty much any new AAA game at 4K high settings with a steady 60 FPS. Although I suggest using this GPU for 1440p gaming, it does have plenty of headroom to do native 4K without much of an issue. Only the absolute most demanding games like Black Myth: Wukong offer a real challenge and run at around 45 to 50 FPS at 4K with very high settings. Turning on DLSS quality mode almost doubles the average frame rate to around 80 FPS with virtually no loss in image quality.
Lastly, there are three DisplayPort 1.4 and 1 HDMI 2.1 connector at the rear for a total of 4 display outputs.
Perhaps the only thing that I don’t like about this card is how it looks. It gets overshadowed by everything else, including Gigabyte’s own lineup of graphics cards. As a result, it is easy to overlook the Eagle OC because other models, like the Gaming OC, stand out from the rest thanks to their looks. You may be inclined towards that because it has a few extra bells and whistles like prettier RGB and a thicker 3-slot design, but the Eagle OC already offers everything needed while costing less. It makes sense to expect better quality and features at a higher price, but the Gaming OC only looks premium and lacks any significant advantage to compete with much more premium cards like the ASUS TUF or MSI Gaming X Slim. On the other hand, the Eagle OC is underrated and can offer a much better package than cards like the MSI Ventus and Zotac Trinity.

If you’re on the lookout for an RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU that handles both gaming and productivity tasks really well, then one of the best choices is the MSI GAMING X SLIM.
As the name suggests, the card is much thinner than other RTX 40 series GPUs and should easily fit inside any case. The GAMING X SLIM’s cooler has 3 fans and is an excellent choice as an ITX card where space is very limited. The PCB is also very small covering only half the length of the cooler. The metal backplate has no special design and just does its job very well; it covers the PCB completely and has a large cutout to let hot air pass through it. Overall, the cooler is excellent and keeps the temperatures low at around 65 degrees Celsius without struggle.
The fan shroud does however slightly stick out and creep into the third slot. You may struggle to fit another PCIe device right next to the GPU if it is in the very next slot.
Apart from having the longest name for a graphics card in history, the 4070 Ti Super is no slouch. I have no complaints regarding its performance which is top-notch in 1440p with room for some 4K as well. It is a “jack-of-all-trades” type of a GPU that is well-rounded for every type of workload whether its 1440p gaming at maximum settings or heavy 3D modeling and 4K video editing.
In games like Cyberpunk 2077, the RTX 4070 Ti Super manages to deliver 80 FPS on average at 1440p with the maximum graphics settings with ray tracing turned on with DLSS Quality mode; this alone is enough to show its performance.
And, by far, Nvidia’s biggest advantage is in productivity apps because of native CUDA support. Blender, V-Ray, Redshift, Cinema 4D, After Effects, and other 3D apps all work incredibly well thanks to Nvidia’s drivers.
The Ada Lovelace architecture is efficient and the GPU typically only uses around 220 watts during gaming and rendering. It maxes out at 270 watts when pushed to its limits while the 7900 XT consumes 300 watts typically during gaming.

If you’re looking for a graphics card that is built like a tank and offers incredible cooling for a high end GPU like the 4070 Ti Super, the ASUS TUF is just the answer.
The physical properties are perhaps the most impressive – the backplate and the fan shroud are both made of strong metal, greatly protecting the PCB from any physical harm.
The ASUS TUF lineup has a very distinct greyish design that is easily recognizable. Even a 10 year old ASUS TUF graphics card would look so similar to this one that it’s easy to dismiss the design as boring or basic. But this design cohesiveness brings in predictability and works perfectly for those who don’t care much about how their computer parts look.
If you are worried about performance, then I am glad to report that the RTX 4070 Ti Super can play pretty much any game at 1440p ultra settings at 60 or more FPS. There is still plenty of room to play games at 4K, but for the most demanding titles, I highly recommend turning on DLSS and setting it to quality mode. You can still play games like Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk at native 4K on this GPU without any issues, but the frame rate will hover somewhere around the 50 FPS mark. Thankfully for games that are properly optimized, like Red Dead Redemption 2, you can expect around 80 FPS with everything maxed out.
I didn’t exactly want to draw any comparisons, but it is impossible for me to not talk about the ASUS TUF RTX 4070 Ti Super without talking about the ROG Strix variant. I love the ROG Strix but ASUS went all out and overengineered an already well-made card; it comes with quite a few compromises and the ASUS TUF variant addresses all of them.
Firstly, it is too big – the TUF is already a long card that can stretch up to 305 mm in length, but the Strix is even longer at 336 mm and becomes incompatible with a lot of smaller PC cases. Both of these cards are 3-slot cards so they will need a lot of vertical space as well as a GPU anti-sag unit to hold them. The ASUS TUF isn’t too heavy at 1.3 kilograms or 2.8 pounds but the Strix is 1.8 kilograms (which is just under 4 pounds!)
Secondly, the Strix is priced higher than any other 4070 Ti Super and enters the RTX 4080 Super and RX 7900 XTX price category. Thirdly, both of these cards are very similar in terms of performance and features which makes it impossible for me to justify the higher premium associated with the ROG Strix.
Speaking of features, the ASUS TUF model has a dual BIOS switch that can toggle between silent and performance mode. This is identical to how the ROG Strix version works and even results in almost identical noise and temperature. The ASUS TUF operates at 31 decibels with the BIOS in quiet mode during gaming and just under 35 decibels in performance mode – all the while keeping temperatures nice and cool under 60 degrees Celsius at all times.
