The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is AMD’s Magnum Opus; if there is one CPU that can truly maximize any graphics card’s true potential, then it is this one.
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is an 8-core 16-threaded CPU with a massive 96 MB L3 cache.
It is the successor to AMD’s ever-popular Ryzen 7 5800X3D which had a similar 3D V-cache configuration granting it peak gaming performance without pushing clock speeds.
So if you are looking to build your next PC with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and are unsure what parts to choose, I’ve got you covered with three very interesting builds.
The first one is a budget build which costs just under $1200 and offers a strong foundation for many years to come without costing too much today.
Then I have an all-rounder PC for those who want to build a machine with parts that offer the best value with strong gaming and productivity capability.
And lastly, if you are an enthusiast or someone who has been waiting to build their dream PC, I have the ultimate build with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D that can do just about everything.
Before I continue with the builds, please remember that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D came out much later than almost all AM5 motherboards and other Ryzen 7000 CPUs. You may need to update your motherboard’s BIOS before using this CPU on any AM5 motherboard.
That being said, let’s begin with our first build.
Best Budget Ryzen 7 7800X3D Gaming PC Build
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- CPU Cooler: Deepcool AK500 ZERO DARK (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 1 TB (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- Graphics Card: Gigabyte EAGLE Radeon RX 6600 8 GB Video Card (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS GX 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
- PC Case: Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower Case (NEWEGG | AMAZON)
For the budget build, I paired the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with parts that make the most sense today without breaking the bank.
The motherboard is the Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX, a fantastic ATX motherboard that offers premium quality on a budget. I was initially going to choose the ASRock B650 Phantom Gaming as it is one of my favorite budget boards. But the Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX has dropped significantly in price and costs the same as the PG Riptide.
For the RAM, I decided to add a kit of 32 GB of G.Skill Ripjaws S5 which comes with two 16 GB DDR5 6000 MT/s CL36 sticks. Even though this is a budget build, having 32 GB of RAM allows for plenty of multitasking as well as not having to worry about upgrading the RAM for a very long time.
For storage, the Crucial P5 Plus 1 TB is an excellent PCIe 4.0 drive with a DRAM cache. It works as advertised and hits a read speed of 6000 MB/s, making it a popular M.2 SSD for the PlayStation 5 as well.
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D’s best feature is its incredible efficiency and does not heat up. It only needs a simple air cooler to cool it so I chose the Deepcool AK500 ZERO DARK. It is an incredibly priced air cooler that can even take care of running ultra-hot chips like the Intel Core i9 13900K at stock speeds. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D does not exceed the high 60s (degrees Celcius) under this cooler even under a full load.
On the topic of efficiency, I chose a higher-end power supply unit for this build because I believe it is the most important part that no one should ever compromise. I chose the SeaSonic FOCUS GX 750 W 80+ Gold Fully-Modular Power Supply. It can easily handle this system even if there was a Ryzen 9 7950X and an RX 7900 XT without any issue. It has plenty of headroom to support more powerful hardware in the future.
Speaking of future upgrades, let’s address the elephant in the room – the Gigabyte EAGLE Radeon RX 6600.
Building a $1000 Ryzen 7 7800X3D PC is an impossible task without making some compromises and I chose to compromise on the GPU. I would have had to compromise on everything else if I went with a more powerful graphics card now, thus forcing this build to require more frequent upgrades.
Nonetheless, the RX 6600 is still a solid 1080p gaming card. It can last for a very long time if it is only used for eSports titles like Counter-Strike, DOTA, Valortant, or Rocket League. It can easily play all of those games even in 1440p at more than 60 FPS and can play modern AAA titles in 1080p medium-high settings at 60 FPS. Even though it is a placeholder waiting to be replaced with something far more powerful, it is fully capable of being a solid option for any budget to achieve console-level gaming ability.
To fit everything in a tidy and compact package, I chose the Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower Case. I chose the all-black version without the clear side panel, but there are many other colors available for this case. My favorite part of the Pop Air is the deep backside which is great for cable management. Many mid-tower cases do not have enough clearance especially if they are smaller and already lack space.
It is also available in white for those looking for something other than a dark anti-RGB aesthetic. It is affordable, easy to build in, and has excellent airflow even under tough circumstances.
Summary
In conclusion, if you’re aiming for a budget-friendly PC build with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, this setup strikes a great balance with a total cost of around $1100-1200
The Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard, G.Skill Ripjaws 32 GB S5 RAM, and Crucial P5 Plus 1TB SSD allow this PC to have a very strong foundation. While the Gigabyte EAGLE Radeon RX 6600 is a compromise, it’s still great for 1080p gaming at a very cheap price.
The Deepcool AK500 ZERO DARK cooler offers excellent cooling along with the incredible power delivery of the SeaSonic FOCUS GX 750W PSU and all of these parts fit snuggly in the Fractal Design Pop Air case.

For around a budget of $1800, I wanted to build an all-rounder PC with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. This cpu is already one of the fastest and most efficient gaming CPUs so I have paired it with the Asus TUF GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 for its excellent 1440p gaming performance.
The RTX 4070 has three distinct advantages, the first being that it has CUDA acceleration for productivity applications. The second advantage is that while it performs on par with the RTX 3080, it is twice as efficient and has significantly better ray tracing performance as well. Lastly, the RTX 4070 has a 12 GB VRAM buffer which is crucial for 1440p gaming as game assets have started to consume a lot of VRAM.
To piece together the CPU and GPU, I chose the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI. Currently, this is one of the best B650 motherboard on the market thanks to it having everything you need in a motherboard at an excellent price. Its VRM setup is almost like on any more expensive X670 motherboards and its I/O is one of the best I have ever seen on any motherboard.
Do note that this motherboard came out before the release of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D so it requires a BIOS update to use the Ryzen 7 7800X3D which can easily be done with a USB drive.
For the RAM, I decided to add a kit of 32 GB of G.Skill Ripjaws S5 which comes with two 16 GB DDR5 6000 MT/s CL36 sticks. If you have crossed a budget of $1400, then there should be no doubt that your PC needs to have at least 32 GB of RAM.
And just like that, there should be no doubt that I went with the 2 TB version of the Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD. It is simply the best SSD that anyone can get right now.
To cool the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, I chose the Deepcool LS520 SE AIO liquid cooler. Even though this cooler is overkill for the 7800X3D, it will ensure that the 7800X3D stays in pristine condition even many years down the line. The LS520 is an inexpensive cooler with a 240mm radiator that can even cool an overclocked i9 13900K.
To power this entire PC, I went with the SeaSonic FOCUS Plus 750 W Platinum power supply. Its robust capacity and efficiency ensure a stable power delivery to all components, vital for optimal performance and longevity.
Lastly, for the case, I chose the Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower Case. This case brings a perfect blend of aesthetics and practicality to the table. With its ample room for components and well-designed airflow, it not only looks great but also ensures a cool and tidy setup. Even though it sits within the mid-range, it doesn’t skimp on essential features, making it an ideal choice for an all-purpose PC build, offering both style and functionality without compromise.
Summary
In summary for around $1800, you can get a PC that does everything really well. The 7800X3D is going to offer a rock solid foundation to any GPU thanks to its unparalleled gaming performance and when paired with an RTX 4070, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 2 TB Samsung 980 Pro it offers top tier performance.
All of the pc parts are also high-end like the Deepcool LS520, Fractal Design Pop Air, and SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Platinum 750 W for powering everything in this PC.

To cool the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, I chose the Deepcool LS720 360mm AIO cooler. This is definitely an overkill cooler for the 7800X3D given how efficient it is. However, having this cooler means the 7800X3D will last a very long and healthy life and this cooler can easily be reused for much more heat-producing CPUs in the future. I chose the white version which comes with three 120mm RGB fans for optimum cooling.
For the memory, I went with a 64 GB kit of G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB that comes with 2 high-speed and low latency 32 GB DDR5 6400 MT/s CL32 RAM sticks. For storage, there is no other choice than a pair of Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2 SSDs. It is still the best PCIe 4.0 SSD in the market right now with top-notch speed and long endurance.
Lastly, to power this beast of a PC, I chose one of the best power supplies ever made – the SeaSonic PRIME TX-1000. This 1000 W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply can handle any computer including an extremely overclocked Intel Core i9 14900K and dual RTX 4090s if it is ever used in such an extreme scenario.
All of these parts are housed in the gorgeous Fractal Design North. I chose this case for its elegance and ease of use thanks to its wooden front and premium build at an affordable price. This makes it hard to ignore even at a very high budget as it is not only good looking, but it is also affordable while making no compromises on airflow and cable management.
Summary
In conclusion, for a bit under $4000, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D only makes sense to be paired with the RTX 4090. I chose the MSI SUPRIM LIQUID X variant as it is the best RTX 4090 currently. With 64 GB of DDR5 RAM and a pair of 2 TB SSDs, it is going to be near impossible to run out of space for games and productivity applications.
The entire PC is also equipped with top-of-the-line premium parts including the Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER, Deepcool LS720 AIO, Fractal Design North ATX case, and SeaSonic’s TX-1000.
You can rest assured that there is currently no PC that is as good as this one for gaming.
